Anantnag Police on June 22 arrested two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)-associated terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition in the Bijbhera area of Jammu & Kashmir, officials said.
The police have also recovered Rs 1 lakh, 12 AK 47 rounds, and one grenade from their possession. The Anantnag Police have registered the case under the relevant sections at Bijbehara police station.
Further investigation is underway.
On June 16, the Joint security forces in a major operation, neutralised five highly trained foreign terrorists of Jammu & Kashmir Ghaznavi Force (JKGF) who were trying to infiltrate into the Indian territory in the Jumagund area near the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir.
The terrorists, seasoned in guerilla warfare in the Afghan-Pakistan theatre, were trying to infiltrate into the Indian territory in the Jumagund area in the Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir late June 16 night.
Earlier on June 13, a terrorist associate of Lashkar-e-Taiba was arrested by Bandipora Police in a joint operation with Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), informed Jammu & Kashmir police.
According to officials, the Bandipora Police, jointly with 13 Rashtriya Rifles and 45Bn Central Reserve Police Force, arrested a terrorist associate of LeT at Baharabad Hajin.
The police recovered two Chinese hand grenades from the arrested accused, they said.
The police have registered a case under Arms Act and UA(P) Act. Further details are awaited.
Earlier, on May 31, Foiling an infiltration bid, Indian Army apprehended three terrorists near the India-Pakistan border in Poonch.
According to an official statement, Army launched a joint operation with Jammu & Kashmir Police on the Line of Control in the Poonch sector on the intervening night of May 30-31 and intercepted 3-4 terrorists while they were attempting to cross the fence taking advantage of bad weather and heavy rain. “After tracking the movement at about 1.30 hours, a well-sited Indian Army ambush on challenging them was fired upon, and in the retaliatory firefight, some terrorists have been hit,” the statement said.
The security forces then cordoned off the area, and a search operation was launched.
“Blood trails have been found. Three terrorists with some weapons and war-like stores, including one IED (improvised explosive device) and Narco, have been apprehended. One Indian Army soldier was injured in the ensuing firing and has been evacuated,” the statement further mentioned.
Army recovered 10 kg IED from the terrorists.
Earlier on November 20, three hybrid militants were arrested in Jammu & Kashmir. Army and Srinagar police arrested the terrorist along with a huge consignment of 3 AK rifles and 2 Pistols.
