In yet another incident of luring a Hindu tribal girl with a fake identity, a 45-year-old man identified as Noor Alam Khan from Balrampur of Chhattisgarh has been arrested by the Ambikapur police for alleged human trafficking on the pretext of providing a job in Gujarat on Wednesday, June 14.

As per the report, the accused, Noor Alam Khan, a resident of Churma village of Ramanujganj of Chhattisgarh, was in touch with a tribal girl from Pharasgaon of Kondagaon for three months. The accused had promised the girl that he would help her find a job in Gujarat and introduced himself as Rahul Singh.

It’s been reported that the victim girl, Madkam (21), who is initially unaware of the real identity of the accused, fell prey to his inducement and agreed to make a duplicate court marriage certificate as the accused had convinced her that a court marriage certificate will be helpful for her in travel and at the workplace.

The whole incident came to light when the accused, along with the girl, reached the Ambikapur district court and was preparing an affidavit for the marriage for which Alam revealed his original identity. Astonished by the fact that the man she was interacting with was cheating on her, the victim girl was in a state of confusion when the nearby notaries got suspicious about the accused and the whole matter was revealed.

Sensing that he could be in trouble, the accused, Noor Alam, tried to flee the spot but failed as people on the court premises had gathered and caught him at the court’s gate. Later the police took him into custody.

It’s also been reported that one of the girls Sharmili Netam who works as a guard in a solar company in Gujarat where the accused Alam’s sister also works, had introduced the accused to the victim.

While speaking with the media, the victim girl said that the accused, Alam, had told her that the marriage certificate would be duplicated and would only help in travel and the workplace. While talking to the media, the girl can also be heard saying that the accused had introduced himself as Rahul Singh.

Speaking with the media CSP, Ambikapur, Smritik Rajnabala said that three people had arrived in the Ambikapur court where they were preparing an affidavit for a court marriage. While preparing the affidavit, a minor altercation broke out between one of the girls and the accused, Noor Alam. Learning about the incident, a police team reached the spot and took them into custody. During the primary investigation, it’s been revealed that the accused, Noor Alam Khan, had lured the girl with a job in Gujarat. He had also introduced himself with a fake identity.

Upon enquiring, it’s been learnt that it can be a case of Human trafficking, following which the accused Noor Alam, along with co-accused Sharmili Netam, has been booked under Section 370, 120B and 417 of the Indian Penal Code and produced before the court from where they are being sent to the judicial custody, said CSP Ambikapur.

While talking to Organiser, Madhusudan Shukla, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) functionary from the city, said, “the victim girl was working in Raipur when the accused first approached her, she was promised by the accused, who introduced himself as Rahul to help her find a job in Gujarat. The girl fell prey to his forgery and reached Ambikapur. The accused then convinced her that she should have a fake marriage certificate so that she will not be harassed at her workplace in Gujarat.”

“It seems to be a well-hatched plan as the accused had bought the stamp paper from Ramanujganj 3 to 4 months earlier; fortunately, a few notaries present in the court premises got suspicious about the accused and the whole matter was revealed. The role of the other girl in the matter should also be investigated as it was she who had introduced the victim girl to the accused, quoted further Shukla.”

It is to be noted that this is not the first time that a case of luring a Hindu girl with a fake identity has been reported from the region. Earlier, in another such incident, Shabbir Ansari of Ambikapur had been detained by the Garhwa police for allegedly luring a Hindu girl with a fake identity in April this year.

It was then reported that Shabbir met the victim girl, a resident of Jashpur, in a marriage ceremony around a couple of years ago, following which they started talking to each other quite frequently, and finally, the girl eloped with him to get married. However, while interacting with the girl Shabbir did not disclose his original identity and was interacting with the victim with a different identity.

The couple reached Garhwa and stayed at Shabbir’s relative place, after which they booked a hotel room near the Garhwa bus stand. They were planning to get married in a couple of days; however, a few locals came to know about this and informed the police.

Sim cards seized from Shabbir

The police then raided and nabbed the accused, Shabbir, along with the girl from Aadarsh hotel. The police team also seized a number of sim cards, along with photographs of some other girls, from Shabbir’s phone; a list with phone numbers was also seized from the accused.

A video pertaining to the case had also surfaced at the time in which the victim girl was heard saying that she was unaware of the real identity of Shabbir.
