In a shocking incident, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was brutally stabbed to death in Punalur, sending shockwaves through the local political landscape.

The victim, identified as Sumesh, hailing from Punalur, Aikarakonam, was an influential figure within the party, serving as the in-charge of the Kakode BJP booth and a member of the Punalur Mandal Committee.

According to reports, the assault was allegedly orchestrated by Aravindakshan, a ward member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM] from Kakode. The motive behind the attack is suspected to be an internal conflict surrounding the upcoming library anniversary event. Sumesh, who had no affiliation with the CPM, was reportedly targeted in a case of mistaken identity.

Following the vicious attack, Sumesh was rushed to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. However, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he tragically succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.
