Even before people of the Chief Minister MK Stalin claimed in the State Assembly of Tamil Nadu, came out of the shock from the brutal daylight killing of an honest Government officer in his office allegedly by the sand smuggling mafia, now a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State office bearer of Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST) wing PPG Shankar, was hacked to death after a country bomb attack near Chennai on April 27 night.

The deceased Shankar, was the President of Varapuram Panchayat Council near Sriperumbudur and the State Treasurer of BJP Tamil Nadu Scheduled Caste wing.

The incident occurred when he travelled from Chennai to his house in his car. When the car reached Nazarathpet junction near Poonamalee, a gang threw a country bomb. On April 27, morning, Shankar came to Chennai and went home at night in his car with the driver. His car was cornered near the Nasarathpet signal on the Chennai – Bengaluru highway when a mysterious gang hurled a country bomb at the car, causing damage to the entire front part of the car.

Sensing trouble, Shankar got out of the car and started running. The gang chased him and hacked him to death. The police team from Nazarathpet police station reached the spot and removed his body. They are examining the surveillance camera footage from the area and searching for the killers. A special team has been formed to nab the killers.

PPG Shankar’s brother PPG Kumaran, who was Sriperumbudur’s union councillor and a businessman, was hacked to death by rowdies in the same manner (with bombs thrown and armed gang hacking to death) in October 2012.

“Tamil Nadu is not safe for people including political functionaries. Dravidian model Government’s soft approach towards anti-nationals, drug mafia, fundamentalist forces, history sheeters and hardcore criminals encouraged them to carry on their business unhindered. Lawlessness is increasing daily as the present government is trying and focusing its all energies to shield it from the mounting corruption charges levelled by state BJP chief Annamalai. It is making all-out efforts to divert the attention of the people from its failures,” says journalist senior Senkottai Sriram.

BJP Tamil Nadu President K. Annamalai expressed shock and condemned the brutal murder of PPG Shankar, calling it yet another instance of Tamil Nadu’s law and order going for a toss. BJP Tamil Nadu State Secretary SG Suryah said that if a man is being killed by hurling bombs in the middle of the road, it shows the incompetence of the police under MK Stalin’s control.

IT raids on VCM Stalin’s son-in-law Sabareesan connected premises and connected people are going on till today. The ED had recently quizzed Lok Sabha MP Jagatratchagan in Delhi concerning money laundering. The ED has decided to investigate former Tangedco top brass who served during 2001-233 in connection with an Rs.1 200 core scam in handling coal at Visakhapatnam port. After a four-day search at ten locations in Chennai, it seized digital evidence and property documents apart from an Rs.380 crore fixed deposit in South India Corporation (SIC) accounts, part of the Chettinadu Cements Group. Based on the Tamil Nadu directorate vigilance and Anti-corruption (DVAC) FIR, it took up the probe for cheating Tangedco by claiming excessive payments for coal transportation from Visakhapatnam port. This loss to Tangedco occurred between 2001 and 2018 during the previous AIADMK regime.
