The first-ever National Lawyers’ Parliament Festival is being organised at The Indian Society of International Law on Saturday, April 29. The conference is being organised by the efforts of Lawyers’ for Justice, in association with Rajdhani Yuva Sansad. The conference is being organised with the support of the Organiser weekly, as its Media and Knowledge Partner.

The conference will host more than 300 law students and practising advocates from across India. The conference’s agenda for discussion is “Discussion of the introduction of Uniform Civil Code in India: Need of the hour” and it is going to be a one-of-a-kind simulation where law students and advocates deliberate upon the intricacies of the Uniform Civil Code to present a positive case for its enactment and implementation. Furthermore, the conference is a positive step in consonance with concerns expressed by multiple stakeholders, authorities and institutions.

The conference will be graced with the presence of eminent persons from law and legislature. Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad would be coming to the conference as the Chief Guest for the Inaugural Ceremony. Union Minister of State for Law and Justice SP Singh Baghel would grace the conference as the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Ceremony.

Furthermore, Advocate at the Supreme Court of India Monika Arora would come as the Special Guest for the Inaugural Ceremony and Additional Solicitor General of India Chetan Sharma would come as the Special Guest for the Valedictory Ceremony.

The conference will be organised on Saturday, April 29, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The conference’s venue is VK Krishna Menon Bhawan 9, Bhagwan Das Road, New Delhi – 110001. The conference’s itinerary is as follows:

  1. 9:00 am – 9:30 am: Inaugural Ceremony
  2. 9:30 am – 2:00 pm: Debating Session I
  3. 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm: Debating Session II
  4. 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm: Valedictory Ceremony and Award Distribution

The conference’s concept note reads, “Organiser weekly, our media and knowledge partner, has been working tirelessly towards creation of a unified India and towards creating awareness on social, cultural, educational, and political issues amongst masses at large.”

“Lawyers’ for Justice is a trust working for creating awareness in the society which recently organized a large-scale peaceful demonstration to pay homage to victims of West Bengal violence. To further the said cause, a delegation of lawyers also met the Hon’ble President of India, Sh. Ram Nath Kovind Ji (as he was then) in May, 2022,” the concept note adds.

The concept note further reads, “Rajdhani Yuva Sansad (RYS) is a youth run organization aimed at contributing towards the cause of nation building and imparting democratic values along with diplomatic skills in the youth.”

“Our tradition teaches tolerance and hence we have a duty towards the nation to create awareness and to practice constitutional values. Thus, we are here to create a platform for youth to let them exercise their right to free speech and to speak out their views- loud and clear. These activities would be further shaping the character of participants along with adding to their happiness. With a participative conference of this nature, we seek to promote the art of speaking calmly, researching well, listening patiently and being tolerant towards fellow beings,” the concept note concludes
