Uttar Pradesh: Congress leader demands Bharat Ratna for Atiq Ahmed, lays tricolour on his grave — Know more about him

In a shocking video which is doing rounds on social media, a Congress leader Rajkumar Rajju was seen laying the Indian Tricolour (Tiranga) over the grave of the deceased gangster turned politician Atiq Ahmed.

According to Rajkumar Rajju, Atiq Ahmed has achieved martyrdom and hence should be declared a martyr, the tricolour should be rightfully placed on his body.

He also said that Atiq Ahmed should be given “Bharat Ratna,” the highest civilian award of the Republic of India. Rajkumar also raised questions such as: If Mulayam Singh Yadav can be given Padma Vibhushan, then why should Atiq Ahmed be awarded Bharat Ratna?

He also raised slogans of “Atiq Ahmed amar rahe” means long live Atiq Ahmed.

It is to be noted that Indian Tricolour is placed over the soldiers who have attained martyrdom or people conferred with State honour.

Rajkumar Rajju is a leader of the Congress Party. He was the candidate of Congress party from Ward Number 43, South Malaka, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttar Pradesh police arrested the Congress leader.

Who was Atiq Ahmed?

Atiq Ahmed was a mafia-turned-politician who entered the crime world in 1979 when he was accused of murder. He had a total of 100 criminal cases lodged against him.

The most recent case was registered with the Dhoomganj Police Station (Prayagraj) in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal, who was a key witness to the murder of BSP MLA Raju Pal in 2005.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Police, Atiq Ahmed had more than 160 criminal complaints filed against his family. Atiq has been named in 100 cases, compared to 52 instances against his brother Ashraf, three cases against his wife Shaista Parveen and four and one case each against his kids Ali and Umar Ahmed.

According to reports, Atiq and his colleagues have lost Rs 1,200 crore annually as a result of the Yogi Government’s efforts to tighten the noose around the mafia.

On April 15, at around 10:30 PM, Gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed was shot dead while being taken for medical in Prayagraj.
