A Hindu woman was abducted by Mohammad Farman from baditeep village in the Haridwar district of Uttarakhand. After the victim’s father filed a police complaint, the woman was recovered from Punjab.
The accused Farman has been booked under charges of fraud and kidnapping by the Haridwar police.
The Investigating Officer of the case, Amarjeet Singh told Organiser on April 18 that, the girl eloped with Farman on April 14. Her father registered a complaint stating Farman abducted her.
Soon the police teams located them in Amritsar, Punjab. They were brought back to Haridwar on April 17. The girl in her statement has told the police that the accused did not commit any sexual assault on her.
A First Information Report (number–354/2023) was registered at the Laksar police station on April 14.
The accused has been booked under IPC sections 363 (kidnapping), 366 (abduction), 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forging documents) and 471 (punishment for forgery).
The victim’s father Suresh Saini told the police that, Farman abducted his daughter.
The members of Hindu Jagran Manch called for a protest march demanding the arrest of the accused. They called for Mahapanchayat citing the police inaction in the case earlier.
As per the police the boy used to work at the nearby stone crusher and was involved in illegal activities. The police teams are investigating his past criminal records.
