Shocking reports came to light from Jharkhand’s Bokaro district after, the principal of a missionary school suspended the entire class on chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogans. Members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) demanded action. However, the principal said, the action was taken against the indiscipline by the students, not for the slogan.

On April 11, the school called the parents of all the students in class 10. They were informed that their children have been suspended for two days.

As per the report by Dainik Jagran, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Dhanbad head Vinay Kumar wrote to the District Education Officer (DEO) against the principal’s action. As per his complaint, on April 5, a student of class 10 studying at the Loyola school raised ‘Jai Shri Ram’ slogan in class.

As a result, the whole class was suspended for the next four lectures at the school. The punishment did not stop here, as the suspension of these students was extended till April 6.

As per the media reports, the principal of the school Alisha Manjuni, the students were suspended for one day only. She also added that the action was taken against some of the students only, not the whole class.

As per a report by ABP news, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) took cognizance of the matter and has also issued a notice to the collector demanding an action report.

Notably, in 2022, a similar case was reported in the Giridih district of Jharkhand. In this matter, a child was thrashed for writing ‘Jai Shri Ram’ on the blackboard of the class. The students who wrote the slogan on the blackboard studied in class 4. Though, it was not a missionary school.

It was a government school but still, the principal Mohammad Abdul Kakalm suspended the student.
