Asad Ahmed, the son of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed, was slain in an encounter today by the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force in Jhansi. Asad and his associate Ghulam were both wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj. Each of them was carrying a reward of Rs. 5 lakhs. According to the authorities, foreign-made weapons were found in the accused’s possession.

The UP STF said, “Asad, son of mafia-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and Ghulam S/o Maksudan, both wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case of Prayagraj and carrying a reward of Rupees five lakhs each, killed in an encounter with the UPSTF team led by DySP Navendu and DySP Vimal at Jhansi. Sophisticated foreign-made weapons recovered.”

Today, his father, Atiq Ahmed and his uncle Ashraf were brought to the CJM Court in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
Asad was the primary suspect in the case, as per the police, because he shot Umesh Pal in broad daylight in Prayagraj on February 24. In the murder trial of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Raju Pal and the two securities in 2005, Umesh Pal was a crucial witness. Umesh Pal was shot on February 24 in Prayagraj. Bombs were hurled at Umesh Pal and his armed guards, and he received multiple gunshot wounds.

A case was filed against Atiq Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, his wife Shaista Parveen, two kids, assistants Guddu Muslim and Ghulam, as well as nine other people at the Dhoomanganj police station on the basis of a complaint made by Umesh Pal’s wife, Jaya Pal. The FIR was filed under the IPC sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt at murder), 506 (criminal intimidation), 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting with deadly weapons), 149 (unlawful assembly guilty of the offence committed in prosecution of common object), and 302 (murder). Atiq Ahmed is also a suspect in the 2005 murder of Raju Pal.

A 24-year-old man named Arbaaz was shot and killed by Uttar Pradesh Police days after Umesh Pal was killed for his suspected involvement in the killing. Arbaaz, Asad, and Ghulam were allegedly involved in Pal’s murder &, according to the authorities.

Asad, the son of Atiq, was set to marry Ayesha Noori’s daughter, sources claim. They got engaged a year ago. Dr Akhlaq, the husband of Atiq’s sister Ayesha Noori, has already been detained by police and imprisoned.

After the encounter of Asad and his aide, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a meeting on law and order. CM Yogi praised UP STF as well as DGP, Special DG law and order and the entire team. Sanjay Prasad, Principal Secretary Home informed the CM about the encounter.
