Singer Maqsood Mahmood Ali alias Lucky Ali claims ‘Brahmans are a lineage of Ibrahim’, apologises after backlash

Lucky Ali’s appropriation of Indic/Hindu concepts towards Islam is not an isolated incident. It is pertinent to note that, last month, former J&K CM Farooq Abdullah claimed “Ram was also sent by Allah to show the right path to the people”

On April 11, Singer Maqsood Mahmood Ali alias Lucky Ali apologised for his Facebook post claiming that ‘Brahmans are a lineage of Ibrahim’ after facing backlash. He apologised claiming that he did not intend to cause anger or distress among people but wanted to bring everyone closer.

Furthermore, he claimed that he will be more aware of his posts and phrasing after witnessing Hindus upset over his controversial post. He wrote, “Dear Everyone, I realise the controversy of my last post. My intentions were not to cause distress or anger amongst anyone and I deeply regret that. My intentions, instead, were to bring us all closer together… but I realise how it didn’t come out in the way that I meant it. I will be more aware of what I am posting and of my phrasing as I see now that it has upset many of my Hindu brothers and sisters. For that I am deeply sorry. I Love you all,” apologising in a Facebook post.

The singer has deleted his controversial post which asserted that ‘Brahmans are a lineage of Ibrahim.’ It is pertinent to note that the singer did not cite scriptures, texts or any evidence to support his claims while linking the Indic/Hindu concepts to the Abrahamic faith.

He wrote in his Facebook post, “The name ‘Brahman’ comes from ‘Brahma’ which comes from ‘Abram’.. which comes from Abraham or Ibrahim.. The Brahmans are a lineage of Ibrahim Alaihisalam… The Father of all Nations… so whys everyone just arguing and fighting without reasoning amongst themselves?”

Maqsood Mahmood Ali’s controversial Facebook post

It is pertinent to note that Lucky Ali’s post claiming ‘Brahman’ and ‘Brahma’ comes from ‘Abraham’ or ‘Ibrahim’ is not an isolated incident appropriating Indic/Hindu concepts and contending Abrahamic supremacy.

Last month, National Conference chief and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah claimed that Bhagwan Ram does not belong to Hindus exclusively.

He claimed that a deceased Pakistani writer wrote that Allah sent Bhagwan Ram to show the right path to people. He said, “A very prominent writer from Pakistan, who passed away recently, wrote that Ram was also sent by Allah to show the right path to the people. So, those who say that we are the only devotees of Ram, are fools.”
