New Delhi: BJP leader and Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on April 5 lashed out at Rahul Gandhi and the Congress today, alleging India’s grand old party has been left with no ideology except the one of a “traitor” which works against the country.

He told reporters here that the Congress party has been according a “special treatment” to former Kerala MP following his conviction in a defamation case. He said the Congress has also tried and pressuring the judiciary and has been desperately trying out everything possible to stay relevant.

“This party has insulted backward classes, sought proof of our armed forces’ bravery and spoken about our soldiers being beaten up by China,” Jyotiraditya Scindia said. “The Congress has been left with no ideology. This Congress has been now left with only one ideology which is of a traitor, an ideology which works against the country,” he said.

Jyotiraditya Scindia, who was in the Congress for a long time and was considered a close associate of Rahul Gandhi, quit the party and joined the BJP in 2020 following differences with its leadership. Jyotiraditya Scindia’s defection to BJP, along with loyalist MLAs, especially in Madhya Pradesh, had to the fall of the Kamal Nath-led Government.

The Minister said the Congress is projecting the “personal legal battle” of Rahul Gandhi as a fight for democracy. It is leaving no stone unturned to play with democracy and hitting new lows, he said.

The Union Minister said parliament is not being allowed to function, and Congress leaders are coming to both houses wearing black clothes and pointed out that several other leaders have previously been disqualified earlier.

“Is this the philosophy of “Gandhiwaad”, why so much is being done for one person,” he asked.

Ghulam Nabi Azad flays Congress leadership :

Meanwhile, another former Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said the Congress became “inimical” to him after he quit the party. “No other party has opposed me as much as the Congress. When PM Modi praised me on the floor of the house, instead of being happy, they became very annoyed. They even opposed me getting a Padma Bhushan,” he said.

Answering the Congress party’s charge that he has become the “B-team of the BJP”, Ghulam Nabi Azad quipped, “I could say the same thing about them. Congress is doing nothing. They have given a free run to the BJP.”

Ghulam Nabi Azad made it clear that after floating his own political outfit, he has not allied himself to any other party.

About assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the former CM noted that in the last few poll fights, no party had secured a majority on its own. “As such, J&K-based parties like Mehbooba Mufti’s PDP and Faroq Abdullah’s NC joined hands with the BJP,” he said.
