The Congress lied about Congress leader and former Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi being a Visiting Fellow at Judge Business School, Cambridge University, The New Indian reported.

The report revealed that Cambridge University confirmed over e-mail that Rahul Gandhi is not a visiting fellow at the Cambridge Judge Business School. It is pertinent to note that the revelation comes after Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha after he was convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment in the ‘Modi’ surname defamation case.

The report revealed documents received from their UK-based source who filed an application under the Freedom of Information Act asking whether Rahul Gandhi holds a formal position at the Judge Business School. Cambridge University’s Governance and Compliance division replied that Rahul Gandhi is an Honorary (Non-Visiting) Fellow at the Judge Business School.

Furthermore, the report revealed that to be eligible to become a Visiting Fellow at Cambridge University, the candidate must “make a significant general contribution or teach all, or a substantial part, of a course or an executive education programme.”

Therefore, Rahul Gandhi is ineligible as he does not fulfil the criterion, however, an honorary title can be given to a public figure, the New Indian reported. However, it is pertinent to note that the Congress’s official Twitter handles claimed that Rahul Gandhi was a Visiting Fellow at Cambridge University on February 16 and March 2.

The report revealed that Cambridge University has confirmed the letter received revealing Rahul Gandhi’s position at Judge Business School is authentic. Cambridge University said, “We confirm this letter is authentic. We assume that you will not publish the name of the individual as part of your story, whose role is to answer FOI requests in line with UK legislation, and the letter is in no way a ‘personal’ reply from her.

Furthermore, the report quoted a source, an alumnus from Cambridge University, stating “out of the 16 Honorary Non-Visiting Fellows in Finance, Rahul Gandhi is the only one who has absolutely no relevant qualifications or experience in the field of finance.”

“Rahul Gandhi in no specific measure has any “significant general contribution” in the field of finance. It is even farcical to attempt to defend him on this count by anyone, least of all, University of Cambridge. So, the only criteria for his appointment as a fellow of finance is that he teaches a “substantial part” of a finance course. Instead, Rahul Gandhi began and centered most of his lecture around the Bharat Jodo Yatra. It is outrageous, to think that he holds an academic position in finance and ends up discussing his failing political project in India,” the report quoted the alumnus.

“It was a clear bluff by both Congress and Rahul to hoodwink the Indian masses that he was holding the event at the prestigious institution at their invitation. The truth is neither he is a fellow in Finance, nor Cambridge has ever extended any such invitation to him,” the report quoted the alumnus.

“This is called the Gandhi privilege that when you don’t attend a University or a college, you can still term it as a degree and use phony credentials to build a case against own country and attempt to topple an elected government,” the report quoted the alumnus.

On March 26, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi made contradicting claims about Rahul Gandhi’s educational qualifications. She said, “Rahul Gandhi has studied from two of the most prestigious institutions in the world – Harvard and Cambridge. He has an MPhil in Economics from Cambridge.” However, Rahul Gandhi’s election affidavit notes that he completed his MPhil in Development Studies from Trinity College, Cambridge, and not Economics, The News Indian reported.

BJP’s national IT Cell Chief Amit Malviya replied to Priyanka Gandhi’s claims, “None of Rahul Gandhi’s election affidavits mention a degree from Harvard. Priyanka Vadra, just like her disqualified brother, is lying. Is there anything about the family that is not fake?” the New Indian reported.
