Post disqualification as a Members of Parliament, Congress supremo Rahul Gandhi has been furious. First, he rebuked a journalist calling him a ‘BJP agent’ and later he changed his Twitter bio as ‘Disqualified MP’. He is making sure to make the maximum use of this disqualification. On March 26, while addressing party workers at the national capital, Priyanka Gandhi Varda said, her family nurtured the democracy of the country with their blood.

News agency ANI quoted her statement from the address, “You (BJP) talk about ‘Pariwarvaad’, I want to ask who was Lord Ram? Was he Pariwarvaadi, or were Pandavas Pariwarvaadi? Should we be ashamed because my family fought for the country? My family has nurtured the democracy of this country with their blood”.

“This flag has stains of their blood, this soil has traces of their blood, My family nurtured this democracy with their blood”, she added.

“We might have different ideologies but we do not have the ideology of hatred. In 2018, Rahul Gandhi gave the PM a hug after his nearly hour-long speech,” she added.

The Congress party held a day-long Satyagrah on March 26 against party leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha. The protest Satyagrah is led by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and the congress president Mallikarjun Khadge.

Earlier this week, Rahul Gandhi, the Lok Sabha MP from Wayanad in Kerala, was disqualified with immediate effect, as section 8(3) of the Representation of Peoples Act states that an MP or MLA will be disqualified from the date of conviction if the jail sentence awarded is two years or more.

He made derogatory remarks on the Modi community by saying “How come all Modis are thieves?’’

Apart from the ‘Modi’ surname case, Rahul has as many as five defamation cases registered against him in different states of India. For his ‘Modi’ surname remark another FIR was lodged in Patna. Then he was granted bail by the Ahmedabad court, he was booked for saying, ‘A bank was involved in a currency exchange fraud during demonetisation. In another defamation case, a Mumbai court granted him bail in a defamation case relating to Gauri Lankesh’s slaying to “BJP-RSS ideology.”

A similar case was registered at Guwahati where Rahul falsely claimed that the RSS banned him from attending the Barpeta temple in Assam in December 2015.

The gravest of all remains his remarks on RSS, as he called them ‘Murders’ and alleged that they were involved in the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation.
