Twenty-eight-year-old Mustafa Hanibhai alias Babubhai Miyana raped his 11-year-old stepdaughter in Kheda Gujrat for almost six months until he get caught by his wife. A case was later registered and a special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012) bench at Nadiad awarded him a death sentence.

Notably, the truth came out when the minor turned pregnant. Apart from the death sentence the court also asked the accused to pay a sum of two lakh rupees to the victim.

The incident took place in Mahalaj village of Matar taluka of Kheda district. After the case was registered the Matar police arrested him.

A widowed woman was married to 28-year-old Mustafa after the death of her husband. With her she also brought her three daughters with her. They all started living with their stepfather. One of the daughters get married to a boy in Ahmedabad while the other two still lived with Mustafa and their mother.

When the family moved to their farmhouse in Ahemadabad the 11-year-old daughter was left alone with Mustafa. He raped the minor for six consecutive months. He threatened the minor so much so that she could not tell her mother about this. When her condition deteriorated she was taken to the hospital where it was found that she is three months pregnant. The victim’s mother was shocked, when she inquired strictly the whole truth came out, it was in January 2021.

She immediately lodged a complaint against the girl’s stepfather Mustufa Miyana at the Matar police station. The case which was going on in the court of Special POCSO Judge PP Purohit of Nadiad on March 21, taking into account the arguments of the public prosecutor Gopal V Thakur and the evidence of 12 witnesses and 44 documentary evidences, the court awarded death penalty to the accused Mustafa.
