Radical Islamist preacher Zakir Naik is likely to be deported from Oman. Indian intelligence agencies are already in touch with Oman authorities to detain Naik during his visit to Oman on March 23.

Notably, Naik has been invited to deliver two lectures in Oman. His first lecture “The Quran a Global Necessity” is organised by the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs of Oman and scheduled on the first day of Ramadan-March 23. The second lecture “Prophet Muhammad A Mercy to Humankind” is scheduled at Sultan Qaboos University on March 25 evening.

Indian embassy is in touch with agencies to detain and eventually deport him under the local laws, reported News 18.

Sources in Indian intelligence agencies said that there was strong possibility that local authorities oblige to their request and detain him.

Indian agencies are likely to send alegal team for follow up after detention. The matter was taken up with the Omani Ambassador by the MEA. Earlier, Qatar had invited Naik to give religious sermons at the FIFA World Cup 2022.

The Indian Ambassador in Oman has also raised the issue with Omani MFA.

Zakir Naik, is facing charges of money laundering and hate speech in India and has been living in exile in Malaysia since 2017, as a runaway fugitive.

Islamic hate speecher, Zakir Naik claims that Prophet Muhammad said that every child is born in the innate religion. “Every child is born as a Muslim. He submits to Allah. Later on, the elders, the parents, the teachers, they influence the child. He may remain on straight path or he may become a fire worshipper, he may become an idol worshipper and then he may go out of the fold of Islam,” he says.

He further claims that every child, irrespective of the child being born in Hindu, Christian or even Jewish family is born as a Muslim. “He submits his will to Allah,” he claims. He claims that hence, when a person converts to Islam, the ‘appropriate’ word is ‘revert’. “He was on the straight path, he went on a wrong path and now he is back on the straight path,” he claims.

The radical Islamist preacher in another video can be heard asking Islamic countries across the globe to collect data of non-Muslims in India who criticise Islam and arrest them when they land up in their countries and try them under the blasphemy law.
