On February 28, Jagran reported an instance where Maulana Tufail Khan allegedly duped Chandra Shekhar Yadav into converting to Islam on the alleged pretext of getting him a government job, a house in Delhi and marriage with Maulana Tufail Khan’s sister-in-law.

Notably, Chandra Sekhar agreed to Maulana Tufail Khan’s promise, converted to Islam, and changed his name to Mohammad Hilal.

In 2013, Chandra Shekhar came to Delhi for a job, he started visiting Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, where he met Maulana Tufail Khan. Maulana Tufail Khan runs a madrassa in Nizamuddin area. Afterwards, the two became friends and started visiting each other’s houses.

In March 2015, Chandra Shekhar converted to Islam on the alleged pretext of getting him a government job, a house in Delhi and marriage with Maulana Tufail Khan’s sister-in-law.

Furthermore, Chandra Shekhar received a new Aadhar Card under his new name, Mohammad Hilal.
Later, Maulana Tufail Khan took Chandra Shekhar to his madrassa, where he received religious training and was asked to offer namaz.

In May 2015, Maulana Tufail Khan approached Chandra Shekhar with four people and asked to get him circumcised; then, Chandra Shekhar left the seminary and returned to Amroha before Maulana Tufail Khan could circumcise him.

However, Maulana Tufail Khan followed Chandra Shekhar to Amroha, where he allegedly sedated Chandra Shekhar and circumcised him.

Later, Maulana Tufail Khan took Chandra Shekhar back to Delhi, where he worked at the madrassa. Chandra Shekhar received Rs. 10,000/- per month as expenses for two years. Maulana Tufail Khan avoided Chandra Shekhar’s questions regarding his promises of a government job, a house in Delhi and marriage with Maulana Tufail Khan’s sister-in-law.

In 2017, there was a dispute between the two, and Chandra Shekhar reverted to Hinduism after returning to Amroha. However, he was threatened by Tufail Khan after reverting to Hinduism. Later, he started working as a Class IV worker in a private bank in Moradabad but lost his job during the pandemic. Now he is working in a bakery in Delhi.

In 2022, when Chandra Shekhar found out about a complaint against Maulana Tufail Khan in Muzaffarnagar, he also decided to take action. Therefore, he sent a complaint letter to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and SP Amroha.

CO Sadar Vijay Kumar Rana said that an FIR had been registered against Maulana Tufail Khan and his wife Afreen based on Chandra Shekhar’s complaint, his statement has been recorded, and the case is being investigated.
