A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader from Chote Dungarpur area of Narayanpur in Chhattisgarh was shot by the armed cadres of proscribed CPI(M) in the evening hours of February 10.

According to the information received, armed cadres of CPI (M) barged into the house of the BJP district vice president of Narayanpur, Sagar Sahu and shot him,

He was taken to the nearest health care centre, where he was referred to Narayanpur district hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

It’s has been learnt that the BJP leader was at his home when Ultras fired shots and fled the spot immediately; he was shot in his forehead; it’s been reported that the Maoists came on a motorbike and also raised slogans while fleeing the spot.

Briefing the media on the development SP Pushkar Sharma said that the “armed cadres of the proscribed CPI-M fired shots on BJP leader Sagar Sahu who was immediately rushed to the hospital, where the doctors declared him dead, we have recovered the bullets from the spot, a search operation has been launched in the vicinity of the spot”.

It is to be noted that in a similar kind of incident, cadres of the outlawed CPI- M had attacked and killed the BJP block president of Usur Neelakantha Kerrekam on February 5.

Neelkanth was hacked to death in front of his family members in Paikram village; the Maoist also left pamphlets before fleeing the spot; it was learnt that Neelkanth had gone there to attend a wedding of his sister-in-law.

The armed cadres of the proscribed CPI (M) attacked Neelkanth with axes and other sharp weapons till he fell down and died on the spot.

Last year the proscribed group had also issued warnings for the BJP workers for dire consequences if they did not opt to leave the ideology following which the BJP leaders have alleged that the Maoist are hand in gloves with some of the leaders of the ruling Congress party.
