Arun Mohan, RSS Sabarigiri Zilla Prachar Pramukh, has filed a petition before Thiruvalla Court, Pathanamthitta district, for expediting the case against CPM MLA and former minister K T Jaleel in connection with his infamous reference to “Azad Kashmir”. Thiruvalla Police had registered FIR against Jaleel in August 2022, in compliance with the Thiruvalla First Class Magistrate Court’s order. A court order was issued based on Arun Mohan’s petition before the court.

But, Kerala Police, read Government of Kerala (GoK), has not taken any action even after five months. Recently, Arun Mohan filed another petition before the court alleging that police keep idle sans taking any step in the matter. They have not even examined Jaleel’s mobile phone, the only physical device available in this case.

As a result of Arun’s second petition, the court scheduled it for a hearing on February 9. But, the public prosecutor did not appear before the court. Petitioner told this correspondent that it was a deliberate action to ‘evaporate’ the case and save Jaleel. It is obviously a pre-meditated GoK plan to protect Jaleel.

When the case was registered, police informed that further actions on the case would be taken after collecting statements from Jaleel. But, it has never taken place.

Jaleel made his controversial reference on his Facebook post regarding his visit to Jammu Kashmir. In the post, he called Pak Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as ‘Azad Kashmir’ and also called Jammu Kashmir as ‘Indian occupied Jammu Kashmir’. Pak leaders and administration abundantly use both terminologies in their anti-Bharat speeches and their official records. And anti-national forces living in Bharat also use the same terminologies.

People of Kerala wonder if anti-national statements enjoy immunity from legal actions if it is from a member of the minority community and if he (or she) is a blue-eyed boy of the ruling apparatus of CPM-ruled Left Democratic Front (LDF) or Opposition Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF). Apparently, UDF also is not taking any follow-up action in the Jaleel issue. Some others ask what else can be expected from Kerala Police since the Home Ministry is presided over by CPM supremo and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
