Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma unfurl the Tricolour in Khanapara field on the 74th Republic Day of India. Addressing the people of the State, Chief Minister Sarma said that the Constitution of India is a document of social, economic and political justice. But the meaning of secularism doesn’t refer to appeasing a particular community. He said India is marching towards the path of development under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Secularism means Sarba Dharma Samabhav as described by our Constitution. It is an excellent culture of the Sanatani dharma that we have embraced Parsi, Jews, Islam etc. and all other religions in our great Nation.

India will be the top country in the world by 2047. We are already the 5th largest economy in the world, and we are proudly holding the Presidency of the G20. Dr Sarma said that Assam is also marching in the path of progress. Most of the extremist groups have come to the mainstream in the State. The economy of the State is also gaining momentum. The State Government is expediting the development works in the State. The Chief Minister added that projects worth Rs 17,000 crores have been started through ‘Development Fortnight’ across Assam. The fiscal budget will allocate Rs 3000 crore to make the unemployed youth self-reliant in the State. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “I am glad to announce that my Government will hold a sports festival in 2023 covering every revenue village. The sports festivals will cover nearly 25,000 revenue villages in Assam.

The Government will bring a new sports policy in the State on August 15.” He further mentioned that, like the previous year, Assam Government would grant a holiday for Government employees on February 9 to 11. The Government will have an official holiday to spend time with their parents. Dr Sarma also informed that the Assam Government is moving towards establishing 24 medical colleges in the State. So far, 10,000 children under 14 years of age with heart disease are treated for free will by the Government, CM informed. He also called the remaining insurgent groups to come forward for discussion. The 74th Republic Day of India is being observed across the North East with pride and enthusiasm.
