Security forces in Jharkhand have raided a Maoist hideout in the Karkatta Pahad area of Dumka and seized a huge cache of explosives on January 15.

It’s been learnt that acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprised of jawans from Seema Sahastra Bal and District Armed forces have launched a search operation on the wee hours of Sunday in which a huge amount of materials used to make IED bombs has been seized.

Briefing the media on the development SP Dumka, Ambar Lakra said, “Police had got intel about the possible hideout of Maoist near Karkatta Pahad following which a joint operation had been launched in that area, a total of 411 detonators, 200 gelatin rods along with a large quantity of Naxal literature have been seized by the personnels.

As many as 31 Maoist party badges, along with 18 badges of PLGA, the armed unit of outlawed CPI-M, have also been recovered from the spot; search operations are on in the vicinity of the site to trace out any other possible hideouts of the proscribed group, added SP.

Let us tell you that the security forces have been running rampant operations against the communist terrorists in Jharkhand, resulting in the arrests of many notable Maoist commanders and their companions; recently notorious Maoist and zonal commander of the Parasnath zone, Krishna Hansda has also been arrested by the security forces.

It’s been learnt that based on information from Krishna, a significant hideout of Maoist in the Parasnath zone has also been busted, forcing many top leaders of the proscribed group to run.

Four held in Dhamtari of Chattisgarh

In another news related to the Left-wing extremists, as many as four seasoned Maoists of the outlawed CPI-M have been nabbed by the police in Dhamtari of Chhattisgarh on Monday.

As per the reports, the Maoist had come here for the treatment of one of the senior cadre Kamla bai (50), a resident of Poyarkot of Gadchiroli in Maharashtra. It’s been reported that Kamla has been an active member of the Bharmagarh division committee of the prescribed outfit.

The others are identified as Manat Ram Poya and Maini Kutte, and Sujan Chabar, all residents of Kanker of Chhattisgarh; it’s been learnt that both Maini and Manata are Jan Militia members, while Subhash has been a Naxal sympathiser. A minor girl has also been taken into custody along with them, whose identity has not been disclosed.

They were initially trying to portray themselves as patient attendants; however, during the course of interrogation, they all have confessed to be a part of the outlawed outfit; Naxal literature, banners, and fake identity cards have also been seized from the nabbed Maoists, confirmed an official familiar with the development.

It should be noted that due to increasing pressure from the security forces in the Maoist hotbed of Abujhmad and Gadchiroli of Maharashtra, the ultras are forced to look for other hideouts resulting in a rise of their activities in districts like Dhamtari and Kanker in Chhattisgarh while Balaghat and Mandla in Madhya Pradesh.
