Guwahati: On January 08, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the 28th State Convention of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at the premises of Gauhati Commerce College and said that the student body needs to work to strengthen the edifice of cultural nationalism in the country.

Addressing the convention, Chief Minister said that students’ power is the mightiest power that corresponds to the nation’s power.

Also, hailing the ABVP, he said that the student body has always strived to work for nation-building and to create youth leaders based on the ideals of Swami Vivekananda. He expressed happiness to attend the convention and said that the student body should pioneer the nation-building processes.

Dr Sarma said that ABVP, true to the actual requirements of the country, is working to strengthen the edifice of cultural nationalism based on the ethos and values of the country. Stating that India is a young nation with the potential to make the country great, he called upon the members and other student leaders of ABVP to create a roadmap to expedite the reconstruction process of the nation to rediscover its inner vitality.

The Chief Minister also said that the convention should discuss creating a robust foundation for a strong economy and a foundation for ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. He also said that this convention should initiate momentum for the country to use youth power for a stronger nation. Reiterating the power of the students, the Chief Minister said that gone were those days when agitation ruled the roost.

Now the time has changed when the students are increasingly using their power to change society for betterment by indulging themselves in work culture.

Speaking on National Education Policy 2020, the Chief Minister said that the policy had been formulated in sync with the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) to ease the integration of vocational education into higher education.

The policy has the components to identify specific skills students must acquire during their academic programmes to prepare well-rounded learners with 21st-century skills. He also asked the student body to work as a facilitator and generate awareness of the provisions of the NEP 2020, which has the potential to transform the human resources of the country into skilled and entrepreneurial resources.

State President ABVP Assam Parishad Robin Kakati, State Secretary ABVP, Assam Parishad Simanta Kumar Baishya, National General Secretary BJP Dilip Saikia, members of ABVP from across the country and others were present on occasion.
