11 Maoists surrendered in Jharkhand & Chhattisgarh; 1 civilian brutally killed by Ultras as targeted killing continues

In a significant development on the Maoist front, as many as 11 communist terrorists (Maoists/Naxals) surrendered before the security forces in two separate events in Maoist-affected Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand on January 4, 2023.

As per the reports, eight members, including three women cadres of the banned CPI-M, surrendered before IG (operations) Amol Homkar in Ranchi on January 3.

The surrendered Maoists have been identified as Sarita alias Sanita Sardar, Jayram Bodra, Sanju Purti, Kusnu Sirka, Martam Angariya, Somvari kumari, Tungir Purti and Patar Koda, all under the age category between 18 to 22 years.

It’s been learnt that a total of eleven cases have been pending against Jayram, while six cases have been lodged against his wife Sarita in different police stations of Giridih, while as many as five cases have already been lodged against Martam. Two cases each against kusnu and sanju and one case have been pending against Patar, confirmed an official familiar with the development.

All these terrorists were part of the special assassination group of the central committee of the proscribed CPI-M and are familiar with the insurgency-hit Kolhan region of the state. They were all part of the infamous Anal Da and Misir Besra group, confirmed sources.

 

3 notorious Maoist surrendered in Chhattisgarh

Amid the surrender in Jharkhand in another Maoist-related development, three Maoists involved in the deadly attack of Burkapal, Bhejji (2017) and Minpa (2020) have surrendered before the security forces in insurgency-hit Sukma of Chhattisgarh.

Briefing the media on the development, Sunil Sharma, SP Sukma District said that Three active members of the banned outfit CPI-M have surrendered under the ‘Puna Narkom’ policy of the government, and they all are disappointed with the hollow and impractical ideology of the ultras.

The surrendered Maoist have been identified as Madavi Budhra, president of Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan (DAKMS), Vetti Joga, deputy commander of the Local Gorilla squad, both under the Kistaram area committee of the outlawed outfit and Madavi Joga vice- president DAKMS, added SP Sharma.

Madavi Budhra, who is carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head, was involved in Burkapal and Minpa attacks on the security forces in which a total of 25 and 17 personnel of CRPF had been martyred, respectively; he was also involved in the Bhejji ambush in 2017 in which 12 CRPF personnel had lost their lives.

Vetti Joga was also involved in the Minpa attack; he carries a reward of rs 3 lakhs, while Madavi Joga was a companion of Budhra in both Burkapaal and Minpa attacks, added an official. All of them will be rehabilitated as per the State Government’s rehabilitation policy, ensures SP Sharma.

Maoist killed villagers in Sukma

While the security forces, along with the district administration, are running various rehabilitation schemes for the ultras, on the other hand, the extremists have turned their guns towards the Innocent villagers of the region.

As per the reports, amid the surrender of three notable Maoist in the district, the Ultras brutally murdered another innocent villager under the Chintoor police station limits on January 5.

According to the information received, armed cadres of CPI Maoists barged into Somaiya Subhaiyaa’s house in the late hours of January 4 night and killed him brutally; later, his body was found in the nearby forest area.

It’s been learnt that after killing Somaiya, the Ultras took his body along with them and threw it in the forest area to instil fear among the locals. A handwritten note has also been found from the spot in which the ultras have alleged Somaiya for being an informer. Konta Area committee of the CPI-M has taken responsibility for the murder.

It should be noted that in a similar incident in Bijapur, Ultras had brutally murdered a youth, Sanjay Tati, on December 31, 2022; Sanjay had also been alleged as an informer by the extremists.
