Benazir Bhutto – The new poster girl of Communists; CPI(M) women’s wing use her as a face for the national conference

CPI(M) women’s wing All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), uses picture of former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto as their cover photo for their upcoming national conference. AIDWA also labelled Palayam Martyr Mandap in Thiruvananthapuram as Benazir Bhutto Square

Publicity Hoarding erected in the State Capital city of Thiruvananthapuram and all over the State, in connection with the national conference of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), women wing of CPM, displays the picture of slain Pakistan leader Benazir Bhutto.

One hoarding has been erected in front of the famous Palayam market, Thiruvananthapuram city. Its caption reads: “First Woman Prime Minister of Pakistan and recipient of honorary doctorates from nine universities including Harvard.”

BJP spokesman Sandeep Vachaspati, added that these sorts of hoardings would keep coming up as long as CPM remains a party of rank and file, which keeps on obeying the diktats of the leaders even though they are nonsense

They erected a hoarding and (re) named the Martyr Square Benazir Bhutto Square. Bharat’s First Woman Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has not found any place in their hoardings. Even veteran K.R. Gowri Amma, the late veteran CPM leader and the First Communist Woman Minister in the State, does not have any place either.

BJP spokesman Sandeep Vachaspati wondered what else could be expected from a party which betrayed the country’s freedom struggle. He added, that these sorts of hoardings would keep coming up as long as CPM remains a party of rank and file, which keeps on obeying the diktats of the leaders even though they are nonsense.

Sandeep Vachaspati said he is not asking about the link between AIDWA, the women’s wing of CPM, and former Pakistan PM. Reminding a Malayalam proverb, he said that there are people who treat even a hostile neighbor as their father. Benazir was the Prime Minister of an enemy Country who left no stone unturned to finish Bharat.
Those who respect and worship such a person are enemies of this Country. We do not expect more from the descendants of those who betrayed our freedom struggle.

Sandeep said, we should be careful; these people may betray this country at any moment. China and Pakistan are not natural enemies. The people who live among us, enjoying all facilities and comforts here, and betraying us, are the country’s natural enemies. BJP demanded CPM’s apology and immediate removal of the hoardings from all over the State.

CPM and its general secretary Sitaram Yechury should clarify who Benazir is to them. Do they need Benazir to motivate their followers? We have hundreds of thousands of woman freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the Country’s Independence. Why is Benazir above all those freedom fighters for CPM?

This latest episode proves that Communists are ready to go to any extent to appease minorities. The vote is the be-all and end-all for them.

When district panchayath elections took place in 1991, just after the Kuwait invasion by Iraq, CPM led by EMS Namboodiripad sought votes in the name of the then-Iraqi president Saddam Hussein. Still, he is their hero who “fought against American Imperialism !!!”
