Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother, Heeraben Modi, passed away early Friday morning. She was admitted in UN Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad after her health deteriorated. “A glorious century rests at the feet of God,” PM Modi wrote on his official Twitter handle.

“In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values,” PM Modi wrote while sharing her photo.

pic.twitter.com/yE5xwRogJi

“When I met her on her 100th birthday, she said one thing – Always remembered – Work with intelligence, live life with purity, PM Modi added”.

UN Mehta Institute of Cardiology and Research Centre said in a bulletin said, “Smt. Heeraben Modi passed away on 30/12/2022 at 3.30 am (early morning) during the treatment at UN Mehta Heart hospital.”

Heeraben Modi turned 100 on June 18. PM Modi had paid her a visit on her birthday in Gandhinagar, where she lived with the Prime Minister’s younger brother, Pankaj Modi.

She is survived by his 5 sons – PM Narendra Modi, Pankaj Modi, Soma Modi, Prahlad Modi and Amrit Modi, and one daughter Vasantiben Hasmukhlal Modi.

PM Modi has frequently stated that his mother served as an example to him of how to have a firm resolve and concentrate on the welfare of the less fortunate.

Meanwhile, PM Modi, who was scheduled to embark on a visit to West Bengal to launch the developmental projects, may join the events through video conferencing, news agency ANI has reported citing sources.
