Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the largest militant organisation fighting against the state in Pakistan with its supporters, has attacked defence establishments in Pakistan 148 times within a year. And the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan has given these terror attacks by TTP a boost. But the Central Government seems reluctant to take action against them, Khaama Press reported.
The media agency has further reported that the Pakistan Government is unable to curb and contain such attacks. It has also warned that the number of attacks will increase as other militant groups have joined hands with these terror groups to expand their operations in tribal areas of the country.
In the last year, the TTP has conducted hundreds of terror attacks on the police and army headquarters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Quetta in the Balochistan region.
Recently, on December 23, 2022, a suicide bombing attack occurred in Islamabad, which resulted in the death of a policeman and two conspirators. Seven passengers were also grievously wounded. The TTP has claimed responsibility for the attack. n a statement, TTP announced that the killing was orchestrated because of the killing of their senior leader.
According to Suhail Zafar Chattar, a senior police officer had informed the media that the blast took place when police officers spotted the car and asked it to halt for routine checking. Instead of Stopping, the driver detonated the explosives hidden inside.
According to the Islamabad Police, carrying weapons is not allowed under any circumstances. Electoral meetings will not take place without the permission of the police. The election meetings will take place inside the four walls.
The incumbent Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif condemned the bombing and thanked the police and law enforcement agencies. The PM stated that “police officers have stopped the terrorists by sacrificing their blood and the country salutes its brave men.”
Very recently, several detainees of the TTP had overpowered the prison guards at a counter-terrorism centre in North-West Pakistan. They had snatched weapons from the police and held three officers hostage.
The key objectives of the TTP are enforcing Sharia Rule in Pakistan and forcing the government to call off all military operations in North Waziristan and Swat Valley.

The rise and continuous support from the Afghan Taliban have provided a major boost to the terror attacks conducted by TTP.
