It is reported that A.K. Antony few to Delhi on September 27 as he was summoned by CBI Court for interrogation with respect to Tatro Truck Scandal; but, he told the media that he was going to Delhi as per words from his party chief Sonia Gandhi. An impression was created that he was asked to reach Delhi to offer his advice in solving the crisis Congress faces concerning party president election and power struggle in Rajastan unit of the Party and state government. Reports suggest, obviously it is reported to be the ‘hiding tactics’ as Court took his statement at Delhi Rose Avenue Court. Scandal dates back to the period of UPA II. Case enquiry was over and CBI had submitted the charge sheet before the court earlier. It is reported that the charge sheet contained some references to Antony. CBI Court summoned him to clarify those areas.
CBI initiated the case on the basis of the complaint lodged by Union Civil Aviation Minister Gen. V.K. Singh. An allegation had been raised by some quarters that some intermediaries had met Gen. Singh and offered him Rs 14 crores for the procurement of Tatro Trucks. Later on Gen. Singh had alleged that handsome amounts of bribery had taken place in Tatro procurements. On the basis of this CBI initiated case and inquiry. Former Defence Minister A.K. Antony was summoned for giving statement in this regard.
