The continuing arrest of PFI and SDPI cadres debunked the claim of DMK and stooges, South Zone IG Asra Garg that the involvement of the BJP, Hindu outfits in the petrol bomb attacks to gain public sympathy, publicity and police protection. TN BJP Chief K Annamalai’s stern warning of central intervention has forced the dormant Dravidian model government to act against the fundamentalist forces.
Close on the heels of the nationwide crackdown on PFI by NIA, ED and state police, in Tamil Nadu PFI and SDPI cadres held protests condemning the Centre and started hurling Molotov cocktails or petrol bombs at BJP, RSS and Hindu Munnani leaders’ houses and their vehicles. The sudden strike by them shows they have kept ready the list of people to be attacked and intimidated. Once again in Tamil Nadu, bomb culture has raised its head, thanks to DMK government’s soft and friendly approach to such terror outfits. Tamil Nadu BJP has written to Home Minister Amit shah highlighting the increasing attacks against BJP and RSS functionaries in recent times. The letter mentioned 19 attacks against those belonging to Hindu outfits.
Director General of Police, Sylendra Babu, said, “So far 14 persons were arrested and 11 cases have been filed in connection with bomb hurling incident.”
Minions of DMK like CPI, CPM, VCK, PFI, and others said ”BJP is notorious for organizing attacks on itself and blaming others to garner publicity. They plan to organize a state-wide human chain for social harmony on October 2. PFI state chief M Mohammed Shek Ansari has condemned BJP for creating tension in Tamil Nadu for political gains and PFI was falsely accused in incidents of hurling of petrol bombs. Murasoli, the DMK’s mouthpiece made the same charges. South Zone IG Asra Garg has also made the same accusations against BJP and other Hindu outfits.
But things changed after Annamalai’s warning to Dravidian stock government. He said “if actions are not taken and culprits are booked, Centre may intervene to take appropriate actions as per the Constitution. Even it may use Article 356 to check worsening law and order. The DMK government should change its anti-Hindu attitude or else it would be thrown out of power. Chief Minister MK Stalin should function impartially”. Annamalai warned “we are not responsible, if TN may face the assembly election along with the 2024 Lok Sabha elections before completing its full five term. CM Stalin and other ministers are sitting in Arivyalayam, the party headquarters, thinking about what other problems can be created in the state to divert attention of the people.
He said “we are not for taking law into our own hands. I have written to the Union Home Minister. The Centre will not remain silent. Let me ask for the CM Stalin, what will happen if our cadres retaliate? Our cadres need 30 minutes to bring these anti-social elements under control”.
Union Minister of state for fisheries, L Murugan condemned DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan’s remarks that the NIA raids on PFI office was misuse of law enforcement agencies by the Centre. He said DMK should not indulge in vote bank politics at the national security.
