Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Phase-I of the much-awaited Ahmedabad Metro on Sept 30, next Friday, which has been successfully completed under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.

It will cover a 21-km distance connecting Thaltej Apparel Park. Developed at a total cost of Rs 12,925 crore, phase-I of this ambitious project involves a 40-km stretch which includes 32 corridors.

The Thaltej-Vastral route in the East-West corridor has 17 stations. This corridor also has a 6.6 km underground section. The 19 km North-South corridor that connects APMC to Motera Stadium has 15 stations.

This project was sanctioned in 2014 and has generated 910 lakh man days of employment.

CCTV cameras have been installed at every station along with SRPF personnel and private staff guarding the premises. The tickets are priced between Rs 5-25, based on the distance.

The stations will be at Thaltej, Doordarshan Kendra, Gurukul Road, Gujarat University, Commerce Six Roads, SP Stadium, Old High Court, Shahpur, Gheekanta, Kalupur, Kankaria (East), Apparel Park, Amraiwadi, Rabari Colony, Vastral, Nirant Crossroad, and Vastral Gaam.

The second phase of the Ahmedabad Metro project will connect the state capital Gandhinagar with Ahmedabad.

This phase will have two corridors including 22.8 km from Motera Stadium to Mahatma Mandir, having 20 stations and a 5.4 km route from Gujarat National Law University to GIFT City having two stations. The entire Phase-II will be on an elevated route.

Modi to also lay foundation stone of world’s first CNG Terminal in Bhavnagar

According to official sources, Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone of the World’s First CNG Terminal at Bhavnagar on Sept 29.

Foresight Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) for the development of a CNG Terminal in Gujarat during the Vibrant Gujarat Global Business Summit 2019.

The Gujarat government under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has ensured fast-paced implementation of various policies and provided necessary permissions for the terminal to take shape in the days to come.

The port will be developed at a cost of Rs 4024 crore and will have state of the art infrastructure for the World’s first CNG Terminal along with the state of art world’s fourth largest lock gate system.

In addition to the CNG Terminal, the port will also cater to the future needs and demands of Bhavnagar district for upcoming projects such as vehicle scrapping, container manufacturing, other mega projects, and Dholera Special Investment Region in particular.

The proposed port will also result in several economic benefits and cost savings with more cargo volume handling at lesser inland distance travel.

The port will help generate direct and indirect employment of up to 1100 people, sources said.

The promoters have already signed an agreement for the supply of CNG and development of CNG Export Terminal with RAK Gas, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE. The supply mechanism of CNG once operational will be revolutionary, enabling India to tap small scale and stranded gas volumes which are yet to be utilized.
