Tamil Nadu: “Entry of Sanskrit and Hinduism has spoilt this land” says former DMK MP TKS Elangovan

Echoing his fellow party member DMK's A Raja, former DMK Rajya Sabha MP, TKS Elangovan ranted against Hinduism saying "The entry of the Sanskrit and Hinduism into this land has spoilt this land. They (Dravidian Movement and DMK) made the “Dalit Hindus” and “Backward classes people” to study like the “upper caste people. Our role is to see people at equal pedestal”.

It is now the turn of former DMK Rajya Sabha MP, TKS Elangovan. He said that the entry of Sanskrit and Hinduism has spoiled this land.

On September 7 while addressing an event organized by Dravida Kazhagam, 2G scam fame, Andimuthu  Raja said “You’re a Shudra till you remain a Hindu. You’re a son of the prostitute till you remain a Shudra. You’re a Panchaman (Dalit) till you remain a Hindu. You’re an untouchable till you remain a Hindu. How many of you wish to stay as children of prostitutes? How many of you wish to remain untouchable? Only if we’re vocal about these questions, it will become elemental in breaking Santhana (Sanatana Dharma)”.

Endorsing his views, former spokesperson of DMK, Elangovan said “See the very purpose of the Dravidian Movement is to create parity among human beings. What is Hinduism? What does Hinduism say? It says Varna, it speaks of Manu Dharma. What we feel is…our fight is against Manu Dharma. When a Hindu, another Hindu, my brother Hindu, could not walk into a street where upper class people live, is an insult. I am denied of my rights. Because I am treated a Shudra”.

Explaining further, he said “The meaning of the word Shudra, what he (A. Raja) said, I am not going to talk about it. But the practice of Manu Dharma was never in the south. The entry of the Sanskrit and Hinduism into this land has spoilt this land. They (Dravidian Movement and DMK) made the “Dalit Hindus” and “Backward classes people” to study like the “upper caste people. Our role is to see people at equal pedestal”.

While speaking at a conference on the language imposition issue, organized by the Dravidar Kazhagam in June last, Elangovan said ” Hindi  language would reduce Tamils to the status of “shudras” and claimed the Hindi-speaking States in the country were not the developed ones while those with vernacular languages as mother tongue were doing well.  What will Hindi do? Only make us shudras. It will do no benefit to us. They are trying to destroy the culture and trying to impose Manu Dharma through Hindi…this should not be allowed…if we did, we will be slaves, shudras”.

It seems, DMK has been adopting clever strategy of offending Hindus whenever the DMK want to divert issues or its failures. DMK and its allies take turn in making offensive comments on Hinduism,  Brahmins, mocking spiritual faith of Hindus, their Gods , touching sensitive issues  and to keep them always on defending mode. Your organizer has published such innuendos from CM, his cabinet colleagues, party functionaries and leaders of alliance partners regularly. They know Hindus won’t come under one umbrella to make their voices heard and will vote for DMK for the freebies bait.
