Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said the organisation is working to ‘awaken and unify the society so that India can emerge as a model society for the entire world.’ He stressed on the collective effort needed to bring about this unifying change ‘people should come forward in serving society as a community and not as an individual.’ “Sangh is working to awaken the society, unify it and make it more organized as a single entity…so that India can emerge as a model society for the entire world,” he said.
Shri Mohan Bhagwat was speaking at an event organized by the RSS Delhi Prant on the various welfare activities carried out by its workers. He reiterated the importance of working as one society ‘many personalities from different sections of the society sacrificed and contributed to the country’s Independence, but it took time for us to flourish as one society.’ “It is the basic nature and DNA of Indians that they think like society and not individuals and we need to further encourage them. We need to prioritize us above ‘my and mine’ while doing welfare work and this will help us evolve as a society,” Shri Mohan Bhagwat added.
His earlier speech, a month ago on the occasion of the 76th Independence Day on August 15, contained the same tone of unification and coming-together. Speaking about “akhand Bharat” he assured ‘it will happen when we stop being scared.’ “If we want Bharat to become big, we should understand that all languages in the country are national languages, people from various castes are mine, we need to have such affection…”why should we be afraid when we talk about Akhand Bharat…It will happen when we stop being scared. What was there will happen again. But we will need to become that Bharat and dream about that Bharat,”
A few days ago, speaking at a book release event sponsored by the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, a women’s wing of the Sangh Parivar, in Nagpur, the RSS Sarsanghchalak complemented women for their capabilities and the need for far greater inclusion of women in nation building “If we want to build a vishwa guru Bharat then just men’s participation was not enough. Equal participation of women was also required and for this a systematic change should come in the 50 per cent population (consisting of women) in the 50 per cent population (consisting of women) in the country”.
