Jhunjhunu: RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Shri Sunil Ambekar said that creative freedom has been a tradition in India, but no one should hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. Everyone should be careful about that, he added. He was reacting to the controversy over a documentary film poster that features Goddess Kali smoking a cigarette that hurt the sentiments of Hindu devotees across the world. Shri Sunil Ambedkar was speaking to the media at the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Prant Pracharaks’ meet at Jhunjhunu of Rajasthan.
The RSS also condemned the beheading of a Hindu tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur and asked Muslims to condemn this incident. Shri Sunil Ambedkar said that Hindus were outraged by the heinous crime. “Any amount of condemnation is less on Udaipur killing. Muslim society should also come forward and speak against Udaipur killing,” he added.
Addressing this issue of death threats to Nupur Sharma, Sunil Ambekar said, “For some days, it has been going on that threats have been issued to people. If you do not agree with someone, there are ways of protesting peacefully. No one has the right to kill someone.”
Several cases have been registered against the director (Leena Manimekalai) of the controversial film for hurting religious sentiments. The issue further flared up when the Trinamool Congress Parliamentarian Mahua Moitra made insulting remarks about Goddess Kali while addressing queries about the controversy around the poster.
