Tamil Nadu: VHP strongly condemns the continuous attack on Hindu Temples

VHP Working President Alok Kumar requested Tamil Nadu Government to put some serious investigation into these cases.

Chennai [Tamil Nadu]: Vishwa Hindu Parishad strongly condemned the continued destruction of Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu. There is a pattern of these attacks as motivated destruction of Hindu symbols by militant societal elements. He did not name any religion in particular who are behind such planned attacks, but it is an open secret who is responsible for such incidents and who has official and police blessings.

VHP Working President Alok Kumar visited one such temple in the village of Tulasapuram, Kanchipuram District on 24th June 2022, where Sathish Premkumar, aka Tulasi, vandalized 22 deities inside the temple.

Police arrested him, claiming he was drunk while damaging the idols. Whenever a Hindu temple or its idols are damaged or uprooted, the police would arrest someone and brand him “mentally challenged” to protect the original culprits. Such arrests are an eye wash to calm down the agitating devotees and Hindutva outfits by preventing further flare-ups of the same.

A five-day National Conference has been going on from 22nd June at Kancheepuram. Briefing media on the ongoing conference, Alok Kumar condemned this attack and destruction of the temple and its deities and asked the Police department to investigate the case from the religious extremist angle as Vishwa Hindu Parishad sees a pattern in these attacks and always in these cases it is commented by the police officers that the attackers were either mentally unstable or in the drunken state. He, during the visit, has observed that it cannot be done by either of these conditional persons in that state as this destruction has a planned mechanism to it and the way the deities have been uprooted from its pedestal and damaged and thrown on the streets.

Alok Kumar requested that the Tamil Nadu Government should put some serious investigation into these cases, and instead of trying to close these cases hastily to suppress the Hindu Society of anxiety and frustration due to its inaction on the real culprits and they must stop such heinous acts that may sow communal disharmony in the society. The five-day conference will end on the 27th.
