Marketing and advertising play a huge role in shaping our society — the way we see, think, understand and act

Goafest, the biggest advertising festival in South Asia was hosted by the Advertising Agencies Association of India (AAAI) to facilitate industry upgradation with new knowledge and insights. Now in its 15th year, Goafest offered Knowledge Seminars, Industry Conclave and Interesting Masterclasses along with exciting Award Shows featuring the best of the industry’s work. The prestigious ABBY Awards organised by The Advertising Club were presented in the festival to showcase and toast the best in the business.

During Goa Fest 2022, the impact of advertising was discussed by various participants during the discussion. Ohri highlighted that the diversity and inclusion in agencies must go above just numbers and must be integrated as a fundamental part of the organisational structure wherein women get the right work environment and culture. The eminent panel included UN Women Country Program Manager – We Empower Asia Suhela Khan, Starcom India CEO Rathi Gangappa, and Leo Burnett CEO and Chief Strategy Officer – South Asia Dheeraj Sinha. Goafest 2022 was packed with insightful sessions and seminars. From the Knowledge Seminars to the Leadership Summit. Event witnessed eminent experts across industries sharing their insights on topics that truly hold value in the current scenario. Here are some highlights of the sessions that would undoubtedly leave you inspired.

In a power packed session, PV Sindhu, India’’s No.1 badminton player & two-time Olympic medal winner, credited her parents for inculcating in her the virtues of dedication and commitment and for shaping her as a player; she also highlighted the importance of setting realistic short-term goals. The second session on ‘OTT Superpower – Freedom and Nuances of Creativity’, witnessed an insightful conversation between artists Vikrant Massey and Ali Fazal, and Gautam Talwar, Chief Content Officer, MX Player. The session highlighted how OTT has democratised storytelling and consumption and this kind of storytelling has never been available before. While OTT gives creators the opportunity to explore their skills, it is still at a nascent stage and has a huge scope for growth. There was another inspiring session with SS Rajamouli-the recipient of Padma Shri Award and maverick Indian filmmaker; and Anupam Kher- Award-Winning International actor, author & motivational speaker. The session was centered around the topic- ‘Bringing Alive – Colossal Creative Vision’ and encompassed conversations around ideation, creativity, and challenges.

Anupam Kher emphasised that if a failure occurs due to the challenges, one needs to learn from it. Studying the failure and the factors behind it is the only way to correct the mistakes and move forward toward success. He also discussed the important role played by his family during his journey, especially that of his sister-in-law.

Anupriya Acharya, President, said, “Goafest 2022 had an electrifying start by celebrating the superpower within. It has grown to become the magnum opus event for the industry. With meaningful sessions and evenings filled with entertainment and fun, the last three days of the festival and the ABBYs, truly celebrated excellence and creativity, making Goafest a unique and enthralling experience. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed towards making Goafest 2022 a huge success with their encouragement and moral support. I’d also like to congratulate all the participants and winners in making the ABBYs’ an eventful evening at all three days.”
