New Delhi: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen’s (AIMIM) leader in Gujarat, Danish Qureshi, was arrested by the Ahmedabad cybercrime team for posting derogatory remarks on Hindu Gods and Goddesses.

Cyber Crime’s Assistant Police Commissioner J.M. Yadav told the media that the cops had traced a tweet posted by the handler ‘@danishqureshi’.

The tweet’s content hurt the sentiments of Hindus, so the team started the technical search for the Twitter handler.

Danish, in his tweet, questioned the Shivling found in the Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh and posted distasteful remarks on it.

The technical team of the police tracked Danish Qureshi from the Shahpur area in Ahmedabad and later arrested him.

Qureshi has been booked under various sections for breaching communal harmony and hurting religious sentiments.

In fact, separate complaints have been lodged against him with Naroda and Paldi police stations in Ahmedabad.

Condemning the post, Hindu saint and monk Dr Jyotir Nath Swami has demanded stern action against the AIMIM leader and has also demanded that Danish should publicly tender an apology to the majority community.
