New Delhi: In a major development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting raids at nine locations belonging to Congress MP Karti Chidambaram and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram in connection with a fresh case of ‘visas’ issued to Chinese nationals for illegal gratification. Raids are on in key locations in Odisha, Karnataka, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi.

The deal took place between 2010 and 2014 when senior Chidambaram was Home Minister and Finance Minister.

During this period, funds were received and sent abroad by or at the instruction of Chidambaram, said a source.

The new case in which raids are being conducted is related to foreign remittances and companies, and it was registered a few days back.

It has been alleged that senior Chidambaram helped Chinese nationals get visas by flouting rules.

The CBI is also recording the statements of the people who are at the house of Chidambaram, reports said.
