Chennai [Tamil Nadu]: A newlywed woman committed suicide after her husband did not have a good toilet in her house. The incident took place in Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu. Twenty-seven-year-old Remya committed suicide after her husband Karthikeyan’s house became challenging to live in due to lack of toilet facilities. Remya and Karthikeyan from Arisiperiyankuppam village in Cuddalore district got married on April 6. Remya was an employee of a private hospital near her home.

As per the local media reports, Ramya had asked her husband to move to a new house with a toilet. However, he did not pay heed to her demands, which triggered repeated arguments between the couple, due to which Ramya moved out from her husband’s house to her parent’s place.

On Monday, Ramya’s mother found her hanging from the ceiling fan in the house. Remya was rushed to Cuddalore Hospital and later shifted to Jimper Hospital in Pondicherry for treatment but could not save her life. Remya’s mother, Manjula, has registered a complaint with the police.
