Moreh: So far, it has been established that several Rohingya Muslims have entered Indian territories illegally and are spread across the country. Hundreds of Rohingyas had been arrested in Assam, Manipur, Tripura, Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of India. While most of the arrested Rohingyas are in jails in different states of India, few were deported to Myanmar. Jammu and Kashmir police on Tuesday (May 3) deported an illegal Rohingya to Myanmar via Manipur.

An illegal Rohingya who was arrested in Jammu and Kashmir was deported to Myanmar at the Moreh-Tamu border along the India-Myanmar border. Rohingya Jafar Alam, a Myanmar national hailing from Bali Basar in Myanmar’s Maung Daw, was arrested by Jammu Police back on May 2. During the investigation by the Jammu police, it was found that Jafar Alam illegally entered India and went to Jammu. He was trying to find a job in Jammu with forged documents. Indian agent helped the Rohingya to enter and travel to Jammu.

Thereafter, a Jammu and Kashmir Police team led by Inspector Ravinder Singh and Liaison Officer Koushal Kumar escorted Jafar Alam from Jammu to Manipur’s Moreh for deportation. Indian authorities handed over the arrested Rohingya Jafar to Myanmar authority at the Indo-Myanmar friendship bridge on Tuesday. Senior immigration officer Y K Anand officially handed the apprehended Rohingya to the Myanmar authorities.
