New Delhi: Three Pakistani prisoners, who had completed their sentences, were repatriated to Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah border on March 26, 2022, Saturday.

The three prisoners are Sameera Abdul Rehman, Murtaza Asghar Ali and Ahmed Raja. Sameera Abdul Rehman will be accompanied by her 4-year-old girl child Sana Fatima, the MEA said here.

"The Government of India attaches highest importance to addressing all humanitarian matters, including early release and repatriation of all Indian prisoners and fishermen," the statement said.

The Government's persistent efforts have succeeded in releasing and repatriation of 20 Indian fishermen and one civilian prisoner from Pakistan's custody in 2022, so far, it said.

On February 12, Pakistani nationals, who were lodged at jails in India, were repatriated via the Attari-Wagah border following completion of their sentences.
