The official Twitter handle of the Kerala unit of the Congress party put out a series of tweets on Sunday (March 13) tacitly justifying the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus in Kashmir in 1990s.

The release of 'The Kashmir Files' has heated the debate about the plight of Kashmiri Pandits. The movie was released in theatres on Friday (March 11).

It tells the story of the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits as it happened in Kashmir.

In a series of tweets on Sunday (March 13), the Kerala unit of the Congress party tacitly justified the genocide of Kashmiri Pandits and also blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the genocide.

In the first post, the Congress party said that only 399 Kashmiri Pandits were killed in 17 years from 1990-2007. It did not say a word about the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits and blamed the governor of erstwhile state for the plight of Kashmiri Pandits.

Quoting the now deleted post of the Congress party, former cricket star Venkatesh Prasad said, “When one feels, they have hit rock-bottom and can only rise from here, they invent ways to hit newer lows. A pity they choose to hurt sentiments of Kashmiri Pandits again. #KashmirFiles is an eye-opener and probably just a tip of the iceberg.”

Noted folk singer Malini Awasthi criticised the Congress party for peddling half truths and propaganda. In a post on Twitter, she said, “Unbelievable- this! Why don’t u mention that Mufti Mohd Sayyed, father of ex CM Mehbooba Mufti, was home minister in Jan 1990! And not only he, released the JKLF terrorists in exchange of Rubaiya Sayeed, his daughter but also protected terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir.”

The film is getting rave reviews and comments from across the globe. Millions are thanking director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri for bringing the plight of Kashmiri Pandits to the silver screen.

The national head of the IT department of the BJP, Amit Malviya, accused the Congress party of whitewashing the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits. In a Twitter post he said, “When Congress, that ruled India for better part post 1947, officially whitewashes the genocide of Kashmiri Hindus, one knows there was no hope for justice, with them at the helm. The process of reconciliation has just begun but why is the Congress writhing in sand like a snake?”

Noted historian Dr. Vikram Sampath accused the Congress party of indulging in petty party politics. He said, “We care two hoots about your petty party politics & endless blaming of each other. This is not about You, BJP, or any party. It’s about the lives & rights of innocent Indians & Hindus who have a #RightToJustice & ur political tu-tu main-main be DAMNED! Shameless, vile psychopaths.”

The Congress party accused then Governor Jagmohan for the genocide of the Kashmiri Pandits. But Shri Jagmohan was appointed governor only on January 19, 1990. The genocide of Kashmiri Pandits had already started by then.

Kanchan Gupta, senior advisor in the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, questioned the Congress party why Shri Jagmohan was earlier appointed governor of J & K by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In a post he said, “If Jagmohan was “RSS man” why did INC India PM Indira Gandhi appoint him Governor of J&K in 1984, a post he held through Rajiv Gandhi’s PMship? Jagmohan appointed J&K Governor on 19 Jan 1990. He was in Jammu; reached Srinagar on 21 Jan.”

After the massive protest, the Congress party deleted some tweets.
