Bungalow number 4 & 5 at Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow were earlier allotted to former chief ministers Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav. They had vacated it on the orders of the Supreme Court in 2018.
On Saturday (March 5), Hindi newspaper Dainik Bhaskar published news that senior government officers of Uttar Pradesh had ordered the renovation of bungalow number 4 & 5 at Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow.
Bungalow number 4 & 5 were allotted to former Uttar Pradesh chief ministers Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav. On the orders of the Supreme Court, they had to vacate the bungalows in 2018.
Dainik Bhaskar report said that the renovation work started in the bungalows after 44 months and it was viewed in the corridors of power in Lucknow as a sign of things to come.
The fact-check unit of the information department of Uttar Pradesh trashed the news saying no such renovation work was happening in the said bungalows.
The PWD engineer in Lucknow said that there was no renovation work and it was just a routine cleaning work.
Both, Akhilesh Yadav and Mulayam Singh Yadav did everything to ensure that they retain the bungalow to themselves but the Yogi government did not relent and proceeded as per the orders of the Supreme Court.
The seventh and last phase of voting for UP assembly elections will take place on Monday (March 7). The campaigning for the last phase of polls ended on Saturday (March 5).
Akhilesh Yadav, who was chief minister of Uttar Pradesh from 2012-17, is fighting to make a comeback. Incumbent Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is targeting more than 300 seats in the house strength of 403. In the assembly polls in 2017, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had won 325 seats.
