PM Modi said while the previous governments worked on only 1NH, the double engine government is working on 40 NHs to make the state an important centre for East Asia connectivity.

Imphal: PM Narendra Modi said the BJP-led government in Manipur has made the impossible possible during the last five years of governance. Modi visited the state today (February 22) morning for the election campaign and addressed a huge rally at Luwangpokpa Multi-Sports Complex, Luwangshangbam, Imphal East.

During his speech, the Prime Minister said the BJP government has made the impossible possible. Congress had made bandhs and blockades the main feature of Manipur, while BJP relieved the people of Manipur from bandhs and blockades.

He further said, "Congress never understood the problems and the feelings of the people of Northeast India. On the other hand, the NDA government believes that the region is the growth engine for India. BJP government has taken care of the state well during COVID. Everyone is being provided free vaccines in Manipur. If a pandemic such as this had arrived pre-2017, imagine what would've happened."

The Prime Minister said, "The previous Congress government had never acknowledged the will and aspiration of the people of Manipur. It divided the hill and valley to continue their game. Women of Manipur fought against the British, but the former government never made the lives of Manipuri women easy. Only the NDA govt understood their problems and worked towards making their lives better. Only the NDA govt understood their problems and worked towards making their lives better."

On delivering social welfare schemes and women empowerment, the Prime Minister said that every 7 out of 10 Manipuri benefits from the free ration, free LPG connection is provided to 250000 families, new houses were given to 70000 families and new tap water connections were provided to above 3000 households in Manipur.

While stating that only 1 NH project was worked upon under the last government, PM Modi said the double engine government is developing nearly 40 NHs, and Manipur will become an important centre for East Asia connectivity after the highway connecting Myanmar-Thailand is completed. Rail connectivity will improve tourism in the region by providing employment to youth.

He also congratulated first-time voters and appealed to exercise their adult franchise. "Your vote is your active participation in this government and you become a part of the decision making," said PM Modi.

He said, "Manipur celebrated 50 years of statehood and has witnessed several governments earlier but had got only inequality. However, in the last five years, BJP has delivered its promises and worked towards the overall development of Manipur. The people have also witnessed BJP's good governance and good intentions."
