Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh celebrate statehood day; Prime Minister Modi greets people of both states

Guwahati: Northeastern states Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram celebrate their statehood day on Sunday. Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh were given statehood on 20th February 1987. Both the states have completed 35 years as full-fledged states. Colourful programs are being organised in Arunachal capital Itanagar and Mizoram capital Aizawl. In Itanagar NEDA chairman Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has joined the government statehood day function as a special guest along with Government B D Mishra, chief minister Pema Khandu. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted the people of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on their statehood day and hailed their contribution towards nation-building.

"Greetings to the people of Mizoram on their Statehood Day. India takes great pride in the vibrant Mizo culture and the contributions of Mizoram to national progress,I pray for the good health and well-being of the people of Mizoram," PM Modi said in a tweet.

Prime Minister Modi also extended his best wishes to the people of Arunachal Pradesh on their statehood day. "The people of the state are known for their stupendous talent and hardworking nature. May the state scale new heights of development in the times to come," PM tweeted.

Home minister Amit Shah, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Tripura CM Biplob Kumar Dev, Manipur CM N Biren Singh also greeted the people of Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh on their 35th statehood day.
