New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate a Bio-CNG plant of 550 metric ton capacity at Indore in Madhya Pradesh on Feb 19, Saturday. Once the project is on, nearly 400 buses in Indore will soon run on Bio-CNG generated from waste at the plant. Swachh Mission Bharat (SBM) directors of all the states will attend the event.
The plant has been set up on 15 acres of the Indore Municipal Corporation trenching ground in the Devguradia area with an investment of Rs 150 crore through public-private partnership (PPP) mode, officials said.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will mark his presence in the event to be organized at the trenching ground, which earlier used to be a dump yard of garbage. The Indore Municipal Council (IMC) officials have later set up Asia's biggest bio-methanation plant, which is capable of producing 19,000 kg of Bio-CNG (compressed natural gas) per day from 550 tonnes of wet waste of fruits, vegetables, raw meat, stale food, green leaves and flowers.
