Guwahati Frontier of BSF seized 3630 kg of ganja and 45000 Yaba tablets; Cachar- Mizoram Frontier also seized drugs, Ganja and Yaba tablets worth Rupees 45 crores.

 

Guwahati: The Guwahati Frontier of BSF was raised on 1st October 2011 and assigned to guard the Indo-BD Border in West Bengal and Assam, covering 509 Km of the International Border. Guarding the nation's border, the BSF Guwahati front has shown utter diligence and achieved great successes in the previous years. 2021 marked a great year of success for the Guwahati Frontier of BSF. Between 26th January 2021 to 24th January 2022, BSF Guwahati FTR has made a total seizure worth rupees over 11 crores consisting of cattle heads, Contrabands, Yaba Tablets, ganja, etc. During the period, BSF apprehended 117 Bangladeshi smugglers and 141 Indian smugglers.

The border guards rescued a huge 8,125 cattle heads during the same period. It has seized 32,844 Bottles of banned contrabands, 3630.71 Kilograms of Ganja and 45,897 numbers of Yaba Tablets. BSF also recovered 3,98,000 of FICN during the same period. IGP Guwahati Frontier Sanjay Kumar Gehlot said in a press briefing on Sunday.

On the other hand, the Cachar-Mizoram Frontier of BSF arrested 11 Bangladeshi smugglers in 2021. Taking charge as the IGP of the Cachar-Mizoram Frontier Mridul Kumar Sonowal on Saturday said the border with Bangladesh as far as Cachar and Mizoram are in the safe hands of BSF. The frontier guards have successfully seized drugs, mainly Yaba tablets worth Rupees 47 crores, during 2021.

IGP Sonowal said BSF has a bigger responsibility due to the increase in the area from 15 to 50 kilometres. He further added that the BSF frontier of Mizoram and Cachar seized 340 cattle heads from the smugglers in the same period. The seizer amount increased more than ten times in 2021 compared to 2020, IG Sonowal added.
