On the basis of the statement of the victim, offences under section 376 IPC, Sec 4 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been in the instant case.

Reasi (Jammu and Kashmir): A 14-year old girl, who was kidnapped and repeatedly raped by the accused, has been recovered by the Reasi Police and arrested the rape accused.

The victim was reportedly kidnapped on December 28, 2021, when she had gone to purchase milk from a shop and didn't return back.

On being informed by the father of the girl, a case FIR number 245/2021, under section 363 IPC was lodged at Police Station Reasi and investigations was started. On the basis of reliable sources, the presence of the minor was established in district Poonch after kidnapping committed by Shakeel alias Sonu.

Thereafter, SSP Reasi Shailender Singh constituted a special team headed by a Sub Inspector, who recovered the missing minor girl from the house of Shakeel alias Sonu, son of Abdul Latief of Ward number 10, Poonch. Even as the accused managed to flee before Police party raided his house, he was chased and finally apprehended from Belicharana area in Jammu.

After medical examination of the victim was conducted by a Board of Doctors, her statement was recorded before Judicial Magistrate and all legal formalities were completed, the recovered girl was reunited with her family.

On the basis of the statement of the victim, offences under section 376 IPC, Sec 4 Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been in the instant case.

According to Police, Shakeel was already married to a girl of Pouni in Reasi and had left her wife in destitution.
