Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Monday (January 17) through video conferencing.

Former Congress president and Nehru family scion Rahul Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday (January 18) for his inaugural address to the World Economic Forum on Monday (January 17). Only that he resorted to a lie to attack the prime minister.

When the prime minister started his address to the WEF virtually Monday (January 17) evening, there was a technical glitch. PM Modi stopped his address and checked with WEF Chairperson Klaus Schwab if he could hear him, to which Shri Schwab replied in positive.

Then, PM Modi checked if Shri Schwab could her his interpreter. Again, he replied in positive.

But, then Shri Schwab says he would restart with an introduction about PM Modi.

Former Congress president and Nehru family scion Rahul Gandhi attacked PM Modi saying even teleprompter could not stand so much lie.

Taking a clue, many Congress office bearers started attacking the prime minister for a technical glitch.

Responding to Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said, “The king of Political Gaffes, Lies , International Holidays and Election defeats is reduced to celebrating a Video Conferencing glitch.”

In the very beginning of his address, PM Modi said that India has successfully administered 160 crore doses of Covid 19 vaccine and was tackling the new Covid wave “with caution and alertness”.

He said, “Today, India is filled with the excitement of the celebrations of 75 years of its independence and also with the confidence of having administered 160 crore corona vaccine doses in just one year.”

PM Modi emphasised how the rich and diverse culture of India was giving a hope to the world. “A strong democracy like India has gifted the whole world a beautiful gift, a bouquet of hope. In this bouquet, we Indians have an unwavering trust on democracy; this bouquet has the technology that will empower the 21st century; and it also has temperament and the talent of us Indians. The Multi-Lingual, Multi-Cultural environment in which we Indians live is a great power not only of India but of the whole world”, PM Modi said.

Inviting the global business leaders to come and Make in India, PM Modi said that there was a time when businesses were controlled by the government but now country has come a long way. “We are constantly trying to overcome all the challenges. Today India is promoting Ease of Doing Business, minimizing government interference. India has made its corporate tax the most competitive in the world by simplifying and reducing it”, PM Modi said.

He also said that with an aim to become a trusted partner in the global supply chain, India is “making way for free-trade agreement with many countries”.

When global multilateral institutions were established, political realities were very different from what they are today. Advocating a need for reform, PM Modi said, “…looking at the global scenario today, the question is whether multilateral organizations are ready to deal with the new world order and new challenges; is that strength left in them? When these institutions were formed, the situation was different. Today the circumstances are different. Therefore, it is the responsibility of every democratic country to emphasize reforms in these institutions so that they can come up to the task of tackling the challenges of present and future.”
