New Delhi: The country and sentiment associated with Indian nationhood never bothered them.

The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) is now opposing the Government directive to organize the 'Surya Namaskar' program in schools between January 1 and January 7.

The official move was certainly not religious. The directive was issued as a mark of tribute to the Motherland on the 75th anniversary of Independence Day.

In a statement, the apex body of Muslims now says that 'Surya Namaskar' is a form of Surya puja and Islam does not allow it.

The Board further said while they did not mind the national anthem, the government of the day should focus on basic governance issues to inculcate the sentiment of patriotism among youngsters.

In 2015 also on the eve of International Day for Yoga, the Board and other Muslim organizations had triggered a row over the issue of Surya Namaskar.
