Former cricket star has formally filed a complaint with the Delhi police alleging that he received threatening emails and death threats from 'ISIS Kashmir'.

New Delhi: Former cricketer and BJP MP representing East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir, has allegedly received a third threat email from 'ISIS Kashmir', Delhi Police said.

Before this, Gambhir received two emails on November 25, possibly from Pakistan.

One of the mails read, "We intended to kill you, but you survived yesterday. If you love the life of your family, stay away from politics and the Kashmir issue."

"We are going to kill you and your family," read another email received from 'ISIS Kashmir'.

The mandatory investigation is underway, and security has been beefed up around Gambhir's residence.

The senior officials of Delhi Police say that Gambhir's complaint was marked to the Cyber Cell of the Special Cell to track the source of the mail.

Notably, the two fresh threat mails have been received just on the eve of the winter session of Parliament.

Mr Gambhir, in 2017 – before joining BJP – had made a strong statement on Kashmir.

"For every slap on my army's Jawan lay down at least a 100 jihadi lives. Whoever wants Azadi LEAVE NOW! Kashmir is ours," he had tweeted on April 13, 2017.

In 2019, Mr Gambhir had slammed Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi over the former Pakistani cricketer's comments on the Kashmir issue after Article 370 was abrogated.
