The Assam CM handed over a cheque of rupees 50 lakhs to the grief family from the state government. Village road will be named after martyr Swargiary.

Guwahati: "I gave my two sons to make our country India strong, today one has returned home wrapped in the Tricolour, I have one more son. Konyak brothers should continue serving the nation to make it strong. My son gave his blood for my country India, he was brave and I am happy for his martyrdom."

Brave Father of Rifleman Kathnei Konyak, who was martyred on 13th November in Churachandpur district in Manipur in a deadly attack by PLA terrorists, said this while addressing his villagers during his son's funeral at Tizit, Nagaland. People across the North East largely appreciate the viral video of Mr. Konyak's speech.

On Wednesday morning, Assam chief minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the martyr Suman Swargiary's family in Barama in Baksa district. CM handed over a cheque of rupees 50 lakhs to the grief family from the state government. Suman Swargiary was also martyred in the Manipur terrorist attack. Dr. Sarma informed the media that the village road leading to the martyr's home would be constructed and named after martyr Suman Swargiary.

On the other hand, the Personnel of Assam Rifles based in Mizoram on Tuesday organised a memorial service to honour five soldiers of 46 Assam Rifles, who were killed in an ambush by militants in Manipur's Churachandpur district recently.

The event was attended by Mizoram Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, DGP SBK Singh and Deputy Inspector General of Border Security Force (BSF) sector headquarters, among others.

During the brief function, which was held at Aizawl, rich tributes were paid to the five fallen soldiers.
