Drug mafia Saddam Hussain sustained bullet injury in police encounter; Drugs worth Rs 12 crore seized in Assam

Narco Jihad in Assam: Ganja mafia Mozibur Rahman and Sayad Ali were arrested with a huge ganja in the Sonitpur police operation.

Guwahati: Wanted drugs mafia Saddam Hussain sustained bullet injuries while trying to escape from police custody. Karbi Anglong Police arrested Saddam in the Khatkhati area near the Assam-Nagaland border on Tuesday (November 16) night. The police team seized drugs worth Rupees 12 crore from a scooty which Saddam was riding. On Tuesday night, a confirmed tip-off, Bokajan police stopped Saddam and his companion near the Assam- Nagaland border. Police searched the scooter bearing registration number AS-09H-4234 ridden by drug mafia Saddam and found 150 soap catches full of heroin weighing 1 kg 777 grams.

Police arrested Saddam Hussain and his partner Bimal Tatsa and brought them to Bokajan police station. While a police team took Saddam Hussain to do a medical test in a sub-divisional hospital, Saddam tried to escape from police custody by attacking a police constable. The police team fired on Saddam to prevent the escape. Drug mafia Saddam sustained bullet injury in his lag. He was admitted to the Diphu medical college later on. 

Congratulating the Assam police on its continued success in the war against drugs, CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweets, "#AssamAgainstDrugs In yet another smart operation by @assampolice, a team seized 1.77 kg heroin, in 150 soap boxes inside a two-wheeler at Matipul, at 9.30 pm on November 16. Two accused have been apprehended. Good work by @bokajanpolice. Much appreciated."

In another successful operation against drugs on Tuesday based on source information, a search operation was conducted by Sonitpur police at the house of Mozibur Rahman under Salonibari outpost and recovered 125 Nos of suspected ganja puriya amounting to a total weight of approximately 300 grams. The accused was apprehended, and further legal action is to put him behind bars.

This is in continuation to the recovery of 85.12 grams of Ganja from the house of Sayad Ali under Napam police station, Tezpur. During the search operation, one instrument used to consume Ganja, one small knife, were also recovered from the kitchen of the accused Sayed Ali's house. Further legal action is to put the accused persons behind bars.
